The Da Vinci Code (2006)
[From The Da Vinci Code (2006)]
Oh my god. I may be the only person not to have read the book and you can bet I will never bother with anything else. This is truly awful film

Neko no ongaeshi (2002)
From Neko no ongaeshi (2002)]
Caught this the other day on film 4 and I really enjoyed it. Not as in depth as other Ghibli's but I thought it was worth the watch and the english script was really quite excellent. As ever the overall message that the stories give are excellent, way better than the crap disney spew out. The baddies are rarely obviously all bad, often explaining the reason they are like they are. You compare this with the one dimensional characters that get portrayed in Disney.

Corpse Bride (2005)
[From Corpse Bride (2005)]
Although the story is very light, I quite enjoyed this short number from Mr Burton and pals. The animation is excellent and it was a joy, but did not get in the way of the story telling (as often happens). The weak point was the lyrics for the songs, these were really quite weak and a missed opportunity to make them amusing in some way. But all in all quite good if a little soulless (no pun intended).

A Mighty Wind
Hopes it would be funnier, basically I think they like folk music too much and it was not the hardest topic to satirize.

Kung Fu Panda
Now I was read for what Mark Kemode calls the death of narrative cinema, as Dreamworks has a tendancy to churn out jokes stuck together as a film. This was better.

No Direction Home
Hmmm. Now I love documentary and I quite like a bit of Dylan, but I ended up switching this off. Really quite poor after 50 mins all I had learnt was that Dylan was brought up in cold place like Fargo. Frankly a waste of everyones time. Dylan came across as dull and shiftless and people as know him as 'larger than life' in a bad way.
